December of 2023 we added Bacari Tabu Lounge, located adjacent (with thruways) to Nonna, draws inspiration from the cherished original Tabu and its signature elements of a low-sexy glow & live jazz. Reinvented!! We serve the full Nonna food and wine menu. Thursday through Saturday we feature Live Music from a variety of vibrant local musicians. We have created a stage and acoustics designed for optimal acoustics & listening. The Tabu lounge side of the restaurant compliments the rustic interior of Nonna. Both spaces are intimate and escapist.
Nonna opened in 2007 to provide Highland Park with a neighborhood restaurant for people to meet and enjoy authentically made regional Italian food. Our original goal was to have a menu that changes daily highlighting pure ingredients, and our chefs inspired versions of the many regional cuisines of Italy. For 17 years plus we still are inspired to evolve and improve on our Ethos.
The cuisine is seasonal and dependent on local producers of meat, produce & seafood whenever possible. It is reflective of the spirit of authentic Italian cooking, with a Texas accent.
A wood burning oven is a focal point for the restaurant, both aesthetically and for the food. The focus of the food is pristine ingredients & rustic preparations for our handmade pastas, pizza, seafood & locally sourced vegetables & meats.
"I like beautiful things that are well made. I even believe aesthetics are equivalent to ethics" & "A thing done well can be done better."
